The luminescence of nanocrystalline ZnS : Mn2+ indeed shows a short decay time component (∼100 ns), but additionally an extended (ms) decay time is noticed. The quick decay time is ascribed to some defect-similar emission of ZnS, and isn't from the decay of your changeover from the Mn2+ impurity. The changeover with the Mn2+ includes a `typical�
